Over the Top

As we start to see glimpses of Spring begin to tease us, I start to tire of my "winter" wardrobe.  I long for the brighter colors, the floral prints, & short sleeved tops!

Today's outfit is just a reminder, however, that we can still start pulling out those items from the back of the closet - they just may need some layers added to them for now.

I fell in love with this sleeveless dress late last summer & was eager to wear it again even though there is snow on the ground.  To "warm it up" I added a cable knit sweater over the top of it, which gives the appearance that it's actually a skirt & not a dress.  Even the ladies at the LOFT (where I got the dress) thought it was a skirt, hehe!

Dress - LOFT // Sweater - JCPenney //  Scarf - Charming Charlie // Ankle Boots - Target

Of course, I didn't hesitate to add a leopard print scarf - leopard is really a neutral, so it can go with anything & everything - & I love it with the floral print!

In an effort to continue to "shop my own closet", I was happy to be able to wear this dress again even though it's still cold outside.

Since my exact items above are from previous seasons, I've linked to similar options below:
Stay warm my friends,

  1. Oh how funny that your "skirt" is a summer dress! I always think black-based florals have a more wintery look, so you did a great job of styling this for the current season!

  3. You are so right, this is about the time I start to get tired of what feels like ALL of my clothing! Even though fall/winter is my favorite season to dress for, I am ready for a change. I love how you added the leopard scarf for some great print mixing.

  4. Oh, I love this. How cute! And that scarf does go perfectly. I can't wait for spring to come too. I am tired of these bitter cold temps. Even though I'm tired of my sweaters and coats, I can't wear anything else because I'll be too cold.
